Warm Up 3/4 - C is for Cookie!

Today, I want you to read the entire blog post here, then start with the first item:

Today we are going to continue our discussion of internet and internet security.

Step 1) The first thing I am going to ask you to do, is turn  your monitor off, and put your keyboards up.  We are going to watch this video about internet cookies together.

We will watch the video as a class, and i will give you a chance to ask questions and make any comments you feel are important.

GhosteryStep 2)   We will use a Chrome extension called "Ghostery".  First go to their webpage: https://www.ghostery.com/  and do two things: watch the intro video, then check out the About and FAQ page.

Start  your Warm-Up document and tell me three things that you think Ghostery does or can be used for.  Once you have the go-ahead, move on to the next step.

Step 3) NOW you can install.  This is a Chrome extension and can be installed in to your browser.  In your write-up, this is your goal:
I want you to make a list of your 5 Favorite webpages.  Try to think of some that you go to that not every one else does.  Using Ghostery.  I want you to make a report about how many, who's cookies are tracking you, and of what type they are when you go to each page.
[[For example.  Amazon.com - 5 Cookie Trackers - Amazon Associates (advertizing), Doubleclick (ad), Doubleclick Spotlight (beacon), etc]]

Step 4) Use your Googling skills.
Wait, WHO IS LOOKING AT MY STUFF!!?!?!?
I want you to research some of the companies who are running these cookies.  Focus on one at a time, do some quick googling and searching and try to find out what is the goal of these products (i.e. what is this "DoubleClick" company I keep seeing?)

Bonus Step -- Brave only) If you want some more detailed technical reading about what Cookies really are, you can check out this webpage.   Feel free to add to your write-up about any bonus facts  you discovered.
