Compare and Contrast. I present to you three maps. Each showing in one way or another, the flow of global information worldwide at different points in history:
1) A map of 18th Century Shipping Patters
2) An 1801 map of Eastern Telegraph telegraph lines
3) A current live map of submarine internet cables
I would like you to write a solid paragraph comparing and contrasting these three maps. Explain what each map is showing. What does this tell us about the flow of information over the last few centuries? Are there some 'places' that are more privileged than others? Be sure to mention specific facts that you notice.
When you finish with the main write up:
There is a lot of other very cool maps having to do with the internet on that last website.
Pick one other map from here. Add to your discussion, by telling me a few specific things you notice about your chosen map.
